Integrity is not something that can be faked. And whether or not we have it shows up loudly and clearly in our day-to-day interactions on the job. Many of us can ‘do the right thing’ when someone is watching — but can we maintain high standards of honesty and ethics when no one is looking? Those with this vital competency of emotional intelligence are able to maintain an authentic openness with others about their values, beliefs, and feelings, and their actions speak as boldly as their words. They keep their word, even when doing so may not be self-serving or popular. General Normal Schwarzkopf said it well:
